This has improved the quality of my recordings dramatically. If you record on a DSLR, especially an older one like I have, do yourself a favor and upgrade your sound. No external power is required. Plug-in via a mini-jack, and you’re all set. It’s a shotgun microphone with a shock mount that helps reduce the chance of vibration noise.
